Atom Probe Tomography

Atom Probe Tomography

Eurofins Nanolab Technologies offers its customers Atom Probe Tomography (APT) services.  Whether you are seeking to speed time-to-market, solve manufacturing problems or ensure regulatory compliance turn to Eurofins. We know how to bring the power of science to every phase of your product lifecycle.

Atom Probe Tomography (APT) uses three dimensional spatial imaging to provide high sensitivity analysis at the nanoscale.

The technique relies on ionization and field evaporation of individual atom or atomic clusters the surface of the sample. A DC Bias voltage creates field evaporation and the sample is cooled down to between 25-80 K to reduce thermal lattice vibrations and increase spatial positioning. The LEAP 5000XR at Nanolab is currently the latest in the instrument capability with highest detector efficiency, higher signal to noise ratio and larger volumes captured and analyzed compared to older versions of the instrument.

APT is very useful for checking dispersion in a quantum well of a commercial LED, studying dopants in a FinFet, or impurities in Aluminum alloys.

Learn how APT can obtain chemical distributions across grain boundaries, heterojunctions, thin films and buried interfaces.
